Rescue Smokers on a roll.

Rescue Smokers is on quite the roll recently with 2 Reserve Grands and a Grand this past weekend in Dublin in their last 3 contests. Congrats to them and hope they have cooled off a little before I run into them at Thomaston.

Super pumped to get everything started this weekend in Gainesville for the ABA/KCBS contest. Hope the weather clears up a little and it doesnt rain.

Bub-Ba-Q is still holding onto the top spot. I believe Bub-Ba-Q and Swamp Boys will both be cooking in Claremont this weekend and with the difference just 18 points or so Swamp Boys could easily take back the top spot if Bub-Ba-Q slips a little.

Pensacola pulled some serious teams for a first year event and every report I have seen is very positive for the first year event. Congrats to Parrothead Smokers on besting a tough field.

Lots of teams will be knocking the dust off this weekend in Mobile, Gainesville, and Claremont as we welcome the end of the silly season(thanks L&H) and leave the garnish, pellet, and gas "discussions" to next winter and focus on this year's season. Good luck to everyone and hope they call you right before they call me.

Bub-Ba-Q takes the top spot, again.

Bub-Ba-Q has taken back the top spot from Swamp Boys after a one week hiatus from the top spot. Swamp Boys held the top spot for more than 60 weeks before Bub-Ba-Q was able to take the top spot, but Bub-Ba-Q was only able to hold it for one week as Swamp Boys took it back following the Starke, Fl FBA contest. Swamp Boys was unable to hold off Bub-Ba-Q this week as Bub-Ba-Q finished Haines City with a Reserve Grand Championship and move firmly into the top spot.

As the weather warms, up so will the competitions around the country with a big contest in Arizona this weekend and March just around the corner these 2 are going to have plenty of chances to knock each other off. The first bonus event, North Little Rock with a $100k purse, is also coming up in March and could give a team like Pellet Envy or Jack's Old South the boost they need to take the top spot.

ABA/KCBS Tour also kicks off in March at Lake Lanier in Georgia and should be a fun weekend of fishing and bbq. New South BBQ will open their 2010 campaign at Lake Lanier looking to start 2010 where they ended 2009. Also hoping to see Jus-Fer-Fun make their way safely back down south and in good health.

Good luck to everyone this season.

Bonus Events for 2010

American Royal Invitational

Smoke on the Water in North Little Rock

FBA Triple Crown Championship

Memphis in May

Jack Daniels World Championship.

I think that the reasons are obvious as to why each of these events were picked. They pit the best BBQ cooks in the country against each other for some of the top prizes in professional BBQ.

Smoke on the Water is just a few weeks away will go a long way towards knocking off Swamp Boys who had now held the top spot for 67 consecutive weeks. The big money in Little Rock will draw teams from around the country for a chance at the big pay day.

2010 is going to be a really great year for competition BBQ. BBQ Pitmasters on TLC, $100k contest in Little Rock, Myron doing the late night circuit, the Kingsford points chase with %25k at stake, and BBQ teaming up with Nascar and the ABA to put on several contests around the country. There is a lot at stake this season and the chance to see NASCAR and ABA up close offers a real opportunity to see how they handle their sponsorships for the BBQ pros. I know I am very interested in attending the ABA contests in Georgia and look forward to seeing everyone on the BBQ trail in 2010.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the rankings have been updated. Any technical issues have been addressed and I will be updating the rankings on time after this weekend, come hell or high water...which in GA might be an issue.

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Sorry for the delays...

Seems like this always happens. We are having some technical issues with entering the results, so I haven't been able to get them in on time. I also had a nice trip to the beach planned for last week so we havent really been able to resolve the issue yet. Seems like there is always something when you want to go on vacation. Needless to say, we are working on the issue and hope to have it up as soon as possible.

At least I picked a good week to get out of GA and head to the beach as the weather in GA has been less than ideal for the last couple of days/weeks. Hope everyone is staying dry.

Updates to the NationalBBQRankings.com website

We have updated the website with a couple of new items. One is the graph on the team page has been changed to show the number of points instead of the ranking for the category. This will make the graphs a little more interesting since the rankings were not changing that much but the points were changing every week.

Also on the team page you can now see how many points each contest is worth in your total for that category. Contests worth 0 points means that they have fallen outside of the 104 week calendar.

We are also adding something to the contest pages where a contest organizer can enter the prize money for their contest and then we will total up the prize money won for each team. Right now that information is private to the my profile page for each team and is not made public.

My profile has been added as a navigation link to the navigation bar. This takes you to your profile on nbr.com. Here you can manage the bio information about the team and items like that. You can also see the prize money won.

Just like with a team a user of NBR may be a contest creator/organizer. That person would then get access to manage the profile of their contest. A person can be the admin of both a team and a contest or multiple contests. We hope that the contest organizers will manage the prize pool information for their contest, which will help us keep accurate tally of the prize money won for each team.

I think that is about it for updates/changes to the website. Please let me know if you have any issues or questions about anything regarding the nationalbbqrankings.com

Thanks,

Chad

Swamp Boys passes 700 points

Finally got the rankings updated today and was surprised to see that Swamp Boys has passed the 700 point mark. No one has ever had such a high score in the rankings. So congrats to Swamp Boys on another grand and setting the high water mark for everyone else. I believe Swamp Boys is competing again this weekend so the 700 mark might not be the mark for too long.

Congrats.
